Liars in the Fire

Anything opposed to the sound doctrine of truth is a lie. The first lie was told in the Garden of Eden by Eve when she spoke with Satan. She spoke of the fruit of the tree in the midst of the garden and announced, “God hath said, ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.” God never mentioned anything about not touching it when he spoke to Adam. Satan recognized the lie and acted upon it saying to the woman, “Ye shall not surely die.” The second lie was told then, followed by the third when he said, “For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”

Thus the door and opportunity of

temptation was open, which all of humanity has entered, living and telling lies ever since. Satan is a liar and imitator, a thief in our lives of everything that is honest and good. When we lie he robs a piece of our soul, because he is the father of deception.

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murders, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake, which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. And there shall in no wise enter heaven into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie, but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
