Fear God

And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction. Behold, I will gather them out of all the countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely: And they shall be my people, and I will be their God: And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them: And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me. Yea, I will rejoice over them to do

lthem good, and I will plant them in this and assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.

Jeremiah 32:33-41

Out of reverence to God we must fear him for his holiness. He came to this earth as Jesus in humility and meekness. He will return again as a lion and not a lamb, where his wrath will be poured out on every sinner.

In Revelation the Spirit of God forewarns us of God’s wrath to come. All throughout the bible God deals with sin and his reprimanding for disobedience. In his existence on earth, Jesus talked far more about hell than he ever did of heaven. The fear that God refers to is respecting his knowledge and wisdom of knowing what we are in for. Out of his love for us he is enlightening our awareness and understanding of suffering without him for eternity. He isn’t trying to scare us into salvation, but loving us into it, because he only wants those individuals whom want to be there in faith and willingness giving him worship and praise.

The more we fear God the more we love him. It is through this fear that we come to know him because we are in obedience and he will reveal more and more of himself as we stand for Christ face to face with the world. There is no love like the love of God. We can search our entire lives to find a substitution, but we will always return to him lacking and desiring contentment and fulfillment for something so pure and innocent.
