A Thief in the Night

Just when you think you are on top of the world, like a thief in the night, a policeman will walk in to arrest you. Instantly, you will have a sick feeling come over you and a knot will form in the pit of your stomach. Deep down you know why he has come for you as he tells you your name. Everyone is staring in wonder of what you have done. You are about to answer for your crime of fraud. You have been pretending to be something that you are not.

You professed to be a Christian and had all the outward adornment to indicate that it was so. However, your heart was as dark as midnight without a moon. Your fruit was rotten from not having been picked. You will stand in the stockade stripped of your pride, clothed with shame. The infractions of your life have finally caught up with you. The injustice has been tallied, and foreclosure becomes your immanent domain.

Your life will flash before your eyes like a

parade passing by. The end float is so near that you can almost touch it. Jesus is the one that has come to make the arrest, because you have rejected everyone that he has ever sent to tell you about himself. Now he must do the unthinkable and incarcerate you for your crime. You will be booked and locked up to think about everything you have done. There will be a gathering at your cell bars without understanding. They will cover their mouths in horror at the sight of you being beyond recognition.
