A Commute

Depending on the city you live in and with so many other cars on the road, it is inevitable that you will have a commute to your work. These commutes can vary from 15 minutes to well over an hour but, whatever your commute is, none of us like to do it. What do we all do during these commutes? Some listen to music, others talk on the phone and some even scream and yell at other drivers? Why not spend this time being more productive and actually get something from your commute?

Hang up the phone, turn the music down and stop worrying about how others are driving. There is a revolutionary thing available to us all and it has been available for thousands of years. It will not only

pass the time by faster, but make you a healthier and happier person. It is prayer! If you want to take advantage of all this wasted time and start enjoying your commute, try it next time you are sitting in traffic.

Why not spend that time and talk to God. After all he is always there and is by far the best listener I know of. Talk out loud to Him just as if He were sitting there next to you. Don’t worry if anyone sees you talking, they would just think your talking into a microphone for your cell phone. Truly open your heart to Him. Tell Him your worries, ask Him for strength and thank Him for all He has done in your life. Do not be generic about this, be specific, dig deep within yourself and get honest with God. He already knows you but, do you know yourself? Contemplate any troubles you have, think about things you have done and how it affected others. What consequences will come from these decisions you have made, what have you done in your life to further His Kingdom? Use this valuable time to speak with the Lord and He will talk back to you.

Getting honest with yourself and God will not only bring you closer to Him but will strengthen and heal you from the inside. If you continue to talk with God during your commute, you will begin to start seeing positives in your life. Answers to your questions will start to become apparent and those annoying bad drivers; well they begin to blend in and seem like all the others cars on the road. Then, before you know it……

…..You're Home!
