When Disaster Strikes

When disaster strikes there is nothing like the comfort of God’s bosom to lay your head upon. There is nowhere else to turn for consolation when your soul is in pain and the experience is so deep it is beyond another human being’s compassion or understanding. God knows because he has taken the time to number every hair on your head. He has the recipe for your DNA, fingerprints and personality… and no two people’s are alike.

At the loss of anything, whether it be a friend, family member, worldly possessions or love, it is something tremendously difficult to handle and so personal. Disaster striking occurs in all of our lives at some point in time. It is how we react and allow the catastrophe to affect us that shows our maturity. If we

truly believe that all is for the good of the kingdom, disaster shall enter our temple at some point in time but not destroy it. In some cases we build again.

Sometimes the appearance of a disaster arrives as a blessing. God not only uses the disaster to get our attention, but alters our course like nothing else could have. It could be a pivotal moment to bring us closer to him and touch our life in a way of surrender that is crucial to our path of acceptance.

Job’s disasters came in a sequence of one after another until ultimately everything had been lost, with exception to his faith in God. He praised God for giving him life and was reinstated many fold all over again. Job realized a disaster is only temporary, but God’s love is eternal. He weighed the significance of the two and of course chose the later. With God’s love, any disaster that comes our way is only a hurdle that we jump headed for the finish line.
