The Promise Land

The promise land that God set a covenant with the people of Israel was a land of milk and honey. He led them through the desert for forty years with many a hardship before they arrived there. Because of their complaints and dissatisfaction with everything, their faith in God was tested many times before they finally achieved their goal.

That is the same scenario today, only the promise land is God’s kingdom or heaven. Again we are left in the desert all our lives complaining and whining about how bad we have it, and what a pain life is. God has established a promise with us also, that if we believe in Jesus and accept him as our savior we will enter into the promise land.

The promise land is also within, and a mighty work has been started in all of us. It takes years for the bride to make herself ready. God works with us to change our hearts and carnal ways, peeling away the layers of sin in preparation for perfection. God doesn’t want any of us to miss the moment when Jesus returns to receive his glory, and we as believers will be glorified right along with him. What a glorious day that will be, along with millions upon millions of saints meeting him in the air during the rapture.

When we promise our life to God and break that promise by sinning over and over again, emptiness fills us with great regret and remorse. We continue to press on with life until the temptation ceases to be less and less, knowing then that we are advancing in our Christian walk to become more like Jesus.

God’s promise of having started a work within us that he will someday finish is what we literally live for. The land of milk and honey is where we will dwell for evermore. God’s truth will prevail over Satan’s lies and the day will come when our faith and trust in the Lord will be manifested and magnified beyond our imagination. The promise land will stand before us sparkling like a diamond, just as we will have been transformed from the rough into perfection and completion. It is the only way God knows how to do something with honesty, purity and guaranteed with a promise.
