Spring Break

There is not much difference in the spring break of today vs. the spring break of Moses’ day. When Moses left his brother Aaron along with the children of Israel to go up the mountain to be with God and receive the Ten Commandments, the others left behind chose to worship a molten calf of gold and partake in strong drink and have fornication with each other.

Many of today’s younger crowd drives a couple thousand miles to do the very same thing at spring break: while worshipping the gold around their necks or in their ears as they drink beer and hook up with a stranger to fornicate with.

God considered this an abomination back

then and still does. Moses was so enraged by the sin that he broke the Ten Commandment tablets when his anger overcame him and he threw them down.

Throughout hundreds of generations the morality issue has not improved but deteriorated greatly. Sin is more prevalent today than it has ever been and as a so-called intelligent species we certainly have not learned from our past. The young adults of today that participate in spring break could care less about the bible or the covenant that God established through Abraham, Isaac and Jacob’s righteousness. Why should the younger generation of today care? We as responsible adults have trained them to be so, by tossing the bible, prayer and the Ten Commandments out of schools and the home where their thoughts and morals could be addressed early on. Society itself is oblivious to what is right and does whatever they feel like doing. The laws have been altered and tailored to fit this demoralization; the elimination of the bible and God from our lives has been used for kindling this monstrous fire that has enveloped us beyond our control.

We don’t need a break whatever the season or the reason. We need God to take care of our lives. We need to dedicate ourselves to loving Him and each other the way he has commanded us to. Everything else will take care of itself. If we do what is right, we will be alright… it is as simple as that.

If we set an example for our children and lead them in the proper way, when spring break rolls around they will understand that God is being mocked and will not want to participate in the sin. Let their escapism be in the form of reading God’s Word and spending time with the family where the love of God will nurture them because they have been raised that way. It is our duty and obligation as parents to bring them up in the Lord and give them guidance and structure as long as they are living under our roof. The bible says that their blood is own our hands if we do not honor God’s Holy Word. That’s probably why we have shunned the bible from our lives because we chose not to hear it. On judgment day, God will choose not to hear our petty million and one excuses for not abiding by his Word. The disobedient like it so much that they will spend their spring break in hell for an eternity.
