Show Dog

The term Showdog is used in describing a woman whom is on constant display with outward adornment of hair, makeup, clothing and jewelry. She wears a phony smile of several thousand dollars of whiter than white perfect teeth. Her head is held high with arrogance and fluff, nostrils flared snuffing up the free air like swine. Her pride prances and flits about as if she were in the Rose Bowl Parade entered as the prettiest float… exclaiming, "Look at me I’m special!"

She shows up at church consistently late and making her grand entrance, sparkling with a decadence to rob the glory from the Lord’s Day and divert the attention from either the choir or the preacher, whatever is in progress. Heads turn to

focus on the moment of the Showdog making her grand entrance down the runway. With each step she paws her way toward the front pew, where the congregation can ogle at her latest fashion statement, oblivious to the fact that Christ hung on the cross naked for her.

This disobedience and dishonor of God is the stench that no one wants to neither be around nor clean up after. The bible warns us not to cast our pearls before swine, and that a dog returns to its own vomit.

What if Jesus showed up late every time we called on him? He came in humility and without outward adornment. The only jewels he wore was the crown of thorns piercing his scalp. He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Thank God that he showed up on time to be crucified on the cross for our sin. The very least we can do is go to church and reverence and honor Him by being on time and giving the glory to God where it belongs.

God spelled backwards is dog. Shame on the Showdog for the dog that she is.

For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
