How Many More Chances

How many chances have you been given? How many times has it come into your mind that someday you will start reading the bible? How many times have you thought that one of these days you will start attending church? Or how many times have you considered about praying to God?

Forget about worrying about what to say. Those words aren’t few and far between when we are in trouble or in pain. They come spewing out like rivers, overflowing the banks until something is done to remove us from the terrible situation. How many times have we promised God if you will just do this or that for me, then I will change my life. It always ends in broken promises on our part. Then we feel less and less in liking ourselves and become even more distant from God, because we feel that we have let him down and lied. God knows that we are human because he made us that way. He knows our frailties and faults because he knows our hearts, even better than we know ourselves.

What he wants from us is something beyond doing what is right, because he knows that we are sinners and that will come. What he wants from us is our love and to be part of his family. We may feel that we are not worthy of his love. How could he ever love us because he is so good and pure? It is for that very reason that he can. He gives us this life for that acceptance. He gives us time to work out our decision, some more so than others. Only God knows why. The reasons are as different as our personalities, fingerprints and DNA, and not for us to question. Our hearts are sealed from the beginning of our creation. We were created in his image and given free will. We make the choice to reject the word of God. Only God knows for how long that will be. He knows whether tomorrow will come, or which side of the fence we will spend eternity on. Every moment we reject Jesus Christ as our savior, is another grain of sand that will never come our way again. How many grains of sand will God give you?
